The Development of Blended training Curriculum for Teachers of Profession Subjects to Construct Self Remedial Instructional Package

Abstract


The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop and evaluate self remedial instructional package and 2) develop and evaluate the efficiency of the blended training curriculum for teachers of profession subjects to construct self remedial instructional package. The researcher conducted training needs analysis of the 542 directors, assistant directors, department heads, and teachers of profession subjects from Vocational Institutes in Northern Educational Service Area 1. The data were used to develop the blended training curriculum for teachers of profession subjects to construct self remedial instructional package which was trial with 15 teachers from Lampoon Technical College. The results of the curriculum evaluation can be concluded as follows: Self remedial instructional package consisted of 2 main parts, i.e. 1) self instruction, 2) trained in laboratory which consisted of 6 steps: a) analyze data, b) define the contents of self remedial instructional package, c) design self remedial instructional package, d) pilot and revise, e) implement and evaluate and f) follow-up the study. The evaluation of the appropriateness of the self remedial instructional package was conducted by focus group of 9 specialists with very high appropriateness. Blended training curriculum for teachers of profession subjects to construct self remedial instructional package consisted of 10 modules, i.e. 1) contents on self remedial and self instruction, 2) the analysis of learner characteristics, 3) details of the subjects, 4) topic analysis, 5) writing behavioral objectives, 6) writing content sheet, 7) writing test, 8) design of teaching media, 9) learning and teaching theories, and 10) teaching plan. The training duration was 3 days of 24 hours total. The efficiency of the training course on E1/E2 was 83.50 / 84.02 higher than the set criteria at 80/80. The efficiency of the practical parts was 83.64 with very high appropriateness of the training curriculum. The results showed that the developed blended training curriculum for teachers of profession subjects to construct self remedial instructional package reached higher efficiency than the expected rate.
