The Effects of Accreditation Criteria for Physical Therapist Professional Entry Level Education Programmes on Administration of Institute for Physical Therapist Professional Entry Level Education Programmes

Abstract


An anoucement of accreditation criteria of physical therapist professional entry level education 2015 supported and obstructed to development of current programmes for physical therapist professional entry level education. The purposes of this study were: 1) to analyze the current state of physical therapist professional entry level education in Thailand when the accreditation criteria 2015 was announced and 2) to estimate the effects of accreditation criteria 2015 on the development of institute for physical therapist professional entry level education programmes. The documentary research was applied for first objective. Second objective, the 19 experts were participated in 3 steps of EDFR technique. The findings of this study were: 1) the current state showed that the 16 physical therapist professional entry level education institutes proposed to accredit from the physical therapy council in the 2016. The only 13 institutes were accredited. In addition, every institute had the difference of institute administration and 2) the estimation showed that the accreditation criteria will affect the institute administration in 4 dimensions, covering 91 aspects, which included: (1) general administration and resource management (27 aspects), (2) curriculum and instruction management (38 aspects), (3) human resources management (12 aspects), and (4) financial management (14 aspects). The 16 current programmes for physical therapist professional entry level education had the difference of institute administration. The accreditation criteria were affected to the institute administration in all dimensions, each dimension was affected to the institute administration both positive and negative effect, some aspect that might be neither effected the institute administration and some aspect that might not be effected to the institute administration.
