A Comparison of Learning Achievement of Wat Chayapruekmala School 4th Grade Students Studying Thai Language Lesson on Spelling Reading Online and with Conventional Method

Abstract


The purposes of research study were 1) to develop an online lesson on spelling reading Thai language for 4th grade students, 2) to compare the students’ learning achievement after and before being exposed to the developed online lesson, and 3) to compare the learning achievement of the students studying online and that of those with the conventional method. The subjects of this study were 60 forth grade students from Wat Chaiyapruekmala School. The students were divided into two groups of 30 each, using cluster random sampling technique; i.e. lucky draw. The first group was for the experiment while the second was treated as a control group. The instruments used in this study were an online lesson and an achievement test. Arithmetic means, standard deviation, dependent and independent t-test were used to analyze the data. It was found that 1) the developed online lesson on spelling reading Thai language for 4th grade students was, according to the experts’ assessment, appropriate in every aspect, 2) the online group’s mean score obtained from the post-test was higher than that of the pre-test, and 3) the mean score of the online group’s learning achievement was higher than that of the control group at a significance level of .05.
