The Investigation to Determine the Competencies of Faculty Members King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok Lecturers

Abstract


The study features and empirical investigation of the performance of faculty members at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) relating to these core dimensions: teaching, research, community, and cultural preservation. The outcomes are organized to determine the areas of organizational citizenship behavior according to the stated functions. The study samples include the University faculty members of academic year 2014. The data collecting instrument is a survey questionnaire and statistical analysis is determined through the calculation of frequency distribution, mean, percentage and standard deviation. As results, core competencies for the University faculty feature 4 primary dimensions and 6 sub-factors. Teaching competencies involve instructional skills as well as professional and career knowledge. Research competencies comprise 2 sub-factors that reflect research operation for academic development and personal attributes of research and analysis. The factor influencing contributing service to the community comprises the application of knowledge for the community whereas the key factor affecting preservation and conservation of cultural heritage embodies the support and participation in engaging activities. The behavioral indicators are defined in 5 levels in accordance with the established guidelines and definition of each relevant dimension.
