Focus and Scope

Applied Science and Engineering Progress, ASEP, (ISSN: 2672-9156, e-ISSN: 2673-0421) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed by at least two independent reviewers, open access scientific journal, free of charge, published by King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) since 2008. ASEP published original research articles, reviews, and editorial corner in areas of applied science and engineering. The journal also publishes high quality and peer-reviewed papers presented at conference hosted/co-hosted by KMUTNB to expand the research connection between scientists and engineers. ASEP also aims to introduce research progress of applied science and achievements of engineering development to the world community by demonstrating the significance of research investigations and demonstrations. Accepted manuscript to ASEP will be published every quarter in PDF formats (March, June, September, and December).

ASEP consists of two major sections in Applied Science and Engineering field:

Applied Science - This section contains topics in the multidisciplinary domain of applied science and technology on solving technical problems and developing the application of academic research. The focus of this section target to disseminate the progress of the analysis of problem, finding solution and synthesis of knowledge in the fields such as bioprocess technology, chemistry, information technology, and other topics related to applied science.

Engineering - This section contains topics in the combination of engineering, invention and innovation and focuses on solving technical problem. The targets of this section includes research works in applications of engineering and technology such as electrical and electronics, industrial production, mechanical engineering, and other topics related to engineering.

Peer Review Process

Applied Science and Engineering Progress uses double-blind review, which means that author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa. Reviewers are requested to consider the following important aspects of a manuscript.

1. The results reported in the manuscript must be original and authentic work of the authors. They should be devoid of any plagiarism.

2. Experimental methods and analyses should meet the recognized technical standards and must be described in details systematically and logically. The experimental results should be sufficient and well discussed to achieve conclusions with appropriated statistical analysis.

3. The discussion and conclusion of the manuscript should be supported by reported data in the submitted manuscript as well as relevant references. The submitted manuscript should be written in literacy language fit for scientific journal.

4. The manuscript should be written in English in a clear, direct and active way, free from grammatical errors and linguistic inconsistencies.

5. The research must meet the international standards of the research ethics. Authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation. For research involving animals, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the standards set forth in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

6. The reviewer may reject to accept the editor invitation if you are unable to do so objectively. If you have agreed to review a paper and subsequently identify a potential conflict of interest, inform editor immediately and reject to not continue review.

A good review report answers the following important areas:

  • Is the work novel and of high standards?
  • What are the main findings of the paper? Is relevant work of other authors in the field appropriately acknowledged and references given to the previous literature?
  • What kind of readers would benefit from the manuscript?
  • In what further directions would it be feasible to take the current research?
  • Is the manuscript written comprehensively enough to be understandable? If not, how could it be improved?
  • Do the experimental data support the declarations? If not, what other evidence may prove fruitful?
  • Does the paper offer enough details of its methodology to reproduce the experiments?

Editorial process

After Applied Science and Engineering Progress received the submitted manuscript, a team of Advisory Editors (AE) and Editorial Board Members (EBM) who have expertise in their specific fields check if the research work presented in the manuscript: (a) fits with the scope of the journal, and (b) meets the editorial criteria in terms of originality and quality. AEs/EBMs primarily review based on their own knowledge and experience and make decision to accept or reject the manuscript. After review of the manuscript by at least two independent reviewers, in addition to the views of the Editor, the decision is relayed to the authors. The three types of decisions are as follows;

  • Accept without changes
  • Revisions Required
  • Reject

Reviewer invitation

The Editor-in-Chief and Editors of Applied Science and Engineering Progress have the right to select reviewers for a submitted manuscript considering the research expertise of the reviewers. Before sending the manuscripts to a reviewer, editor seeks consent from potential reviewers about their availability and willingness for review in appropriated time frame. The contact record between the editorial office and reviewers is kept confidential. Reviewers should not disclose any information to anyone before publication of the manuscript. The review reports are edited by the Editor-in-Chief/Editor if the comments contain confidential information or these are written in a language not suitable for scholarly communication. Reviewers should include such comments in the confidential section of the review form, which is intended to be read by the editors only.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publishing Ethics and Plagiarism Policy

The publication of scientific research involves systematic and comprehensive processes by the authors, reviewers, publishers and editors with efficient and competent manner. To keep publishing ethical standards, the publisher works closely with journal editors, authors and peer-reviewers. Applied Science and Engineering Progress assigns ethics responsibility of each publishing partners as follows:

Editors responsibilities:

  • The editor and/or editorial committee hold a position to make final decisions on peer-reviewed articles submitted for publication.
